Would Not Use Again USE CAUTION - Work Performed: November 2010 - Posted 11/15/2010 by jfh296 - WorkPoster (2.0)

Contracted Rod Hardister (Hardister Services/G&R Construction) for driveway replacement. He subcontracted, then failed to pay subcontractor. Now subcontractor is placing a Lien on my home for balance due. Multiple issues during driveway replacement. Lots of excuses given. He starts good, then seems to drop out of sight.

Would Not Use Again BEWARE & AVOID! - Work Performed: August 2010 - Posted 8/15/2010 by babu - WorkPoster (2.0)

Arggg... wish I saw the previous poster's review sooner - my experience is pretty much identical to his. I was cheated by a guy named Rod Hardister of Hardister Services, Red Oak, TX for even higher amount - He was very responsive before getting the advance pay of $1000 (given to purchase the fence & supplies) - and became totally unresponsive afterwords. Used all kinds of excuses to avoid delivering the supplies and service (Weather, Death In Family, Personal Family Issues, and even Being In Jail). After repeatedly trying to get in touch for weeks, even calling up all the references he provided (most said they didn't even give permission for him to use them as referenced by the way), he finally got in touch, saying he is sorry, and promissed to return our $1000. Asked for a couple of weeks time - until he get money from a big project he is about to take up. More than a month gone, no response. Hope others find this review, and avoid getting bitten like us!

Would Not Use Again AVOID!! - Work Performed: February 2010 - Posted 3/15/2010 by phairest - WorkPoster (2.0)

In a nutshell, this guy is just a con-man looking to scam people out of project advances. He'll offer to undercut all other bids to get your money, and then waste your time with increasingly ridiculous excuses as to why he can never actually do the work. AVOID!!!

Keep reading if you want the full story...

After posting an ad for flooring labor in February, Mr. Hardister aggressively pursued my project with phone calls and emails, and offered to undercut every other contractor's bid. I did a search on him and found nothing bad, so I hired him for the offered $1300. He asked for an upfront advance of half the project price (which I've since found out is illegal in some states), but I refused and only agreed to $200. He also stipulated that his low bid was dependant on starting work quickly to 'fill a gap' in his schedule, so I took four days off work to accommodate that. He and a 'worker' showed up on the agreed date, but when I handed over the advance his companion immediately departed 'to get help' and never came back; Mr. Hardister also left about an hour later after unloading some materials, and promised to get his crew properly sorted by the next day. He showed up late and alone the next day claiming that he'd been stood up by his crew again, and that he couldn't work himself because his child had a doctor's appointment he'd forgotten about. I let him know that he'd be fired and I'd want a refund if he flaked again. The next day he didn't even show up, and when I tried to contact him I received a text message from someone claiming to be his wife that he was in the hospital. I gave him notice that he was fired and I wanted a refund of my advance, and he agreed to provide a refund, but in reality all I've gotten are more excuses for weeks on end. It's clear to me now that he'll never willingly give me my refund, and he never intended to do the project to begin with.
